Taking the lead, naturally

plant staff

Here at Local Generation, we're transforming food waste into renewable energy and practical green products, using a natural process called anaerobic digestion.

Our anaerobic digestion plant at March in Cambridgeshire is now fully operational, the first of several such plants forming a sustainable energy network across the country.

In building this network, we're taking a practical lead in reducing harmful emissions and offering waste producers an alternative to rising landfill costs.

Seeding your plant?

Industry-leading seed sludge from Local Generation

Our seed sludge offers your new digester the best possible start.

When it comes to commissioning your new anaerobic digester, Local Generation’s seed sludge has important advantages over cheaper but less efficient digested sewage sludge:

  • Local Generation seed sludge comes from an established, stable, ABP-licenced food waste digester with very high alkalinity, typically 15,000/20,000 mg/l. This means excellent acid buffering capacity.
  • Our seed sludge gives you a strong methanagen bacteria colony from day one, so no need to wait for the slow colonisation of bacteria from sewage seed sludge, if you were thinking of using that.
  • Our seed sludge typically has solids destruction capability of 65 to 70%. Together with very high alkalinity, these values indicate a system in excellent health. And that means a faster, more efficient start-up process and the potential for quicker profit generation for your business.

Local Generation will organise delivery of seed sludge to your plant to allow you to focus on your start-up.
